BBC Sport’s most recent Price of Football study has revealed there has been some reduction in the cost of a match day ticket across the Premier League.

The 2016-17 season has seen a 33% price reduction across all tickets, while 53% of tickets remain the same price as last season.

Premier League clubs continuing to lower ticket pricesAway fans appear to be the biggest winners of the lowered prices with the average ticket costing £29.44 a reduction of 37% compared to last season. The lowered away ticket prices have come as a result of all clubs agreeing to keep them below £30.

Season tickets remain a concern for fans with the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) pushing for even further reductions right across the board. Arsenal offer the most expensive season ticket at £2013, while their least expensive is £1014. Across the board season tickets have reduced by 6.63% to an average of £479.89.

“We believe it’s a positive thing that almost three-quarters of ticket prices have been reduced or frozen. That’s thanks in no small part to pressure from football supporters up and down the country,” chairman of the FSF Malcolm Clarke said.

“Football fans have been arguing articulately and passionately for a reduction in ticket prices for several years now. This sustained effort from supporters has delivered real progress such as the £30 cap on away ticket prices in the Premier League.

“There is no room for complacency, however, with some Premier League clubs charging far too much for their season tickets and away ticket prices in the Championship being the most expensive in the country.

“We will remain vigilant and continue our campaigning to make football affordable for this generation of supporters and the next.”
