Maligned England internationals focused on club football, not World CupHart has endured a frustrating season at West Ham, having been dropped earlier in the campaign for poor form while Welbeck has once again battled injury issues at Arsenal. Goalkeeper Hart enjoyed a return to form over the weekend, producing a man-of-the-match display against Chelsea, in his side’s 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m focused on West Ham, not England, that’s my job,” Hart told Sky Sports at the conclusion of the match. “We are creating a good spirit in the team, we stick together and today was a good example of that. “We are moving in the right direction but in this league you have a smile on your face one day and not the next. “Stoke [City] next Monday is our game of the season now.”

While Welbeck was the hero for the Gunners across town, scoring a double as Arsene Wenger’s side claimed a 3-2 victory over relegation threatened Southampton.

“The World Cup will take care of itself – I don’t pick the team,” he told Arsenal’s official website. “My mind is set on the next game, doing well in those games. “Going into the Europa League on Thursday, it’s going to be a difficult tie even though we won the home game [4-1]. It’s going to be a difficult game so our minds are set on that.”

The pair had recently been included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy in March.
