New Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer is ready to spend big in order to raise the bar at the Selhurst Park club in the 2017-18 season.

The Dutchman was confirmed as Palace’s new boss on Monday, his first job since being fired by Inter Milan in November 2016.

Frank de Boer eager to splash the cash at Crystal PalaceDe Boer takes over from Sam Allardyce, who resigned from his post at the end of lasts season having ensured Palace’s Premier League survival.

“It’s a club that still can grow further and further because every club in the Premier League can spend a lot of money,” de Boer said upon his unveiling. “So there is the possibility to do something well with that money. I think there is a lot of perspective for this club to be a solid Premier League club and this is the most important thing right now.”

Even with the purse at his disposal, de Boer promised he would not hesitate to give youth a chance if they proved their worth to the first team.

“I will give youth the opportunity when they are good enough, and I will be interested to see how talented the players are,” he added. “If they already can make hours on the training track with the first team, that should be fantastic. It’s also confidence to the academy that they can come into the first team and will give lots of spirit to the academy.”

Palace open the new campaign with a home clash against Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town.
