Newcastle United: Statistical look at the rise and fall (and rise again)

It is fair to say that Newcastle United have had their fair share of ups and downs.

Yours, disillusioned with the modern game

I’ve got to be brutally honest, I’ve struggled to find anything worth writing about since the end of last season.

I purposely didn’t want to get caught up in the Euros as I knew that it was going to end in despair. I think we all did. I mean, it’s not me being negative, it’s not me being defeatist, I think the word I’m looking for is realistic. Plus I have the fail safe that I’m half-Italian, not that it got me any more success. The ‘Swanselona’ brand has established itself as a household name, Micheal Laudrup has seemingly advocated the work done by his predecessor, bringing with him three imports from La Liga, who have slotted into the side seamlessly, and in the case of forward Michu, to scintillating effect. (more…)

Bristol City: A home win, good seats but pricey grub!

I went to the Bristol City v Cardiff City game on the 25th August. I must say at the outset that I am not a fan of either team!

However, I live in Bristol and I go with friends who are ardent Bristol City fans. So it is as much about catching up with friends as it is watching a game of football. What a nice way to while away a Saturday afternoon. (more…)
